About
Dr Basumatary did his post-graduation from Gauhati University in 2010, with specialisation in econometrics, operations research, environmental economics and financial economics. He went on to earn his PhD in economics from the same university in 2018. Earlier, he taught economics to undergraduate students at Amguri College, Sibsagar, for about five years. He teaches environmental economics, econometrics and mathematical economics at both undergraduate and post graduate courses. He is also a recognized research guide in the department. Currently he is supervising one doctoral thesis and a number of dissertation works of postgraduate students. His areas of research interest are agricultural economics, environmental economics, human migration and livelihood studies.
Dr Basumatary is also assigned with other administrative responsibilities in the university. He is the departmental representative of IQAC (Since 2019), departmental nodal person in the Website Management Committee, and the teacher-in-charge for gymnasium section (2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23) of the university. He is also a member on the Board of Studies (BoS), Humanities and Social Sciences, Cotton University.
